Resumen

Abstract: In recent decades, Ibero-America has undergone profound sociocultural, political, and economic changes, exacerbating social inequalities and affecting individual and collective well-being, particularly among vulnerable groups, a situation aggravated by the COVID-19 pandemic. This editorial analyzes these changes and their impact on mental health, highlighting the need for inclusive and effective public policies. The articles in this journal issue use qualitative and quantitative methods to address various phenomena in the Chilean and Brazilian contexts. The studies conclude that integrating the psychological discipline into public policies is crucial to advancing toward fairer and healthier societies. This means developing evidence-based policies adapted to local contexts that promote psychological well-being and social equity. In other words, reducing inequality gaps in Ibero-America requires close collaboration between psychology and public policy, using a comprehensive and evidence-based approach to improve the well-being and mental health of the population.
